2011 Playoff Rules
 
1. If two (2) teams are tied for first place, there is a one (1) game playoff for first place with the home team being decided by a coin toss.
2. If two (2) or more teams are tied for 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th, 6th, 7th, 8th, 9th, or 10th place, the higher seed will go to the team with the better head-to-head record.  If there is still a tie, then a coin toss will determine the higher seed.
3. There will be an opening round of the playoffs with 6 vs 11, 7 vs 10 and 8 vs. 9 (just one game); the winners advancing to the first round as the 6th, 7th and 8th seeds (we will re-seed after the opening round).  The first round of the playoffs will be 1 vs 8, 2 vs 7, 3 vs 6, 4 vs 5 in a best two out of three format.  The home team will alternated throughout the series, with the highest seed being the home team in the first game
4. The highest seed in the second round of the playoffs will play the lowest seed still alive in the playoffs.
5. The second round of the playoffs will be best 3 out of 5 format, with the home team alternating throughout the series.  The higher seed will be the home team in the first game.  The second round will begin at 6:15.
6. The finals of the playoffs will be best out of 7, with the home team alternating throughout the series.  The higher seed will be the home team in the first game.  The finals will begin at 6:15.
7. The playoff schedule will be set by Mike Devoll prior to the round.  No team will play more than 2 nights in a row.  Teams will play 2 nights, then take a day off, play 2 nights, and another day off (maximum of 4 games a week, minumum of 3).  Playoff games will also be played on Fridays. 
8. The playoffs will start at 6:30 pm, with a 15 minute grace period, except for the seminfinals and finals which start at 6:15 pm, with a 15 minute grace period.
9. The finals alternate between Devoll Field and Messenger Field.
10. If a game is stopped because of rain in the playoffs, the game will resume at the next possible date on the playoff schedule from where the game was stopped.
11. The Board of Directors will set the playoff schedule at the start of each ROUND.  The schedule cannot be changed regardless of any concerns.
12.  Playoff Rosters will be submitted before the start of the opening round.  A player must play in 10 games to be eligible for the playoffs.  If there is a discrepancy over a specific player, the league managers will convene and vote on the players eligibility.
13.  There will be a slaughter rule for the opening round and the first round of the playoffs.  No slaughter rule for semifinals and finals.
14.  A player who throws a punch or engages in fighting in the playoffs will be suspended for the remainder of the playoffs and the following season.
